Je l’ai rencontrée le soir de mon arrivée à La Marsa il y a quelques semaines. Une jeune femme élégante, discrète, qui parlait d’une voix douce. Nous avons commencé à discuter de tout et de rien, et puis, je lui ai demandé comment allait la Tunisie, ce quelle pensait de son pays maintenant. Elle a réfléchi un moment, et m’a dit qu’elle voyait son pays comme une bouteille remplie de sable qui avait été violemment secouée. Tout était chaotique et elle se demandait comment le sable allait se remettre. Elle n’avait pas de réponse. Elle m’a dit qu’après les doutes, les troubles, la peur, ils attendaient. Elle voyait que son pays retrouvait son calme, que les touristes commençaient à revenir, et cela lui faisait plaisir. Elle était confiante. Et patiente, surtout patiente…
Nous étions en Tunisie pour revoir de très chers amis et aussi pour faire connaître l’Association Chirurgie Plus. Nous avons souvent voyagé dans des pays en crise mais cette fois, peut-être pour la première fois, nous avons senti une vitalité, une énergie, un vrai optimisme.
Tunisia – The young woman and the bottle filled with sand
I met her the evening l arrived in La Marsa a few weeks ago. An elegant, discreet young woman, with a soft-spoken voice. We started talking of this and that, and then l asked her how things were in Tunisia, how she saw the situation in her country now. She thought it over for a moment, and then she said that her country appeared to her like a bottle full of sand that had been brutally shaken. Everything seemed chaotic and she wondered how the sand would settle. She had no answer. She told me that after the uncertainties, the disturbances, the fear, they were waiting. Harmony was returning, the tourists were coming back. That made her feel happy. She was confident. And patient, above all, patient…
We were in Tunisia to see very dear friends and to introduce the Association Chirurgie Plus. We have often travelled to countries during periods of unrest, but on this occasion, perhaps for the first time, we felt a vitality, an energy and a genuine optimism.
