Je vous ai promis un résumé de mon séjour à New York alors le voici. Ce fut une (petite) semaine magique, très froide (je crois qu’il neige maintenant) mais magnifiquement ensoleillée. Je suis descendue dans mon hôtel préféré, The Greenwich, à Tribeca – très élégant et cozy. Pour une fois, j’ai eu le temps de me promener dans le quartier et de découvrir des endroits incroyables, comme l’ancien building de la Western Union (60 Hudson St) dessiné par Ralph Walker, une pure merveille à l’extérieur comme à l’intérieur, et l’Arcade bakery dans le lobby du Merchants square building. J’ai déjeuné au Fanelli, MON restaurant à NYC (je vous recommande vraiment le chili con carne…) et j’ai même eu enfin l’occasion d’aller à la fantastique Public Library. Pour moi, l’une des plus magnifiques bibliothèques du monde. Liz Hermann, l’attachée de presse de ma maison d’édition Octopus m‘a dit que le livre marchait bien. Une excellente nouvelle. Nous avons pris un café ensemble et cela m’a vraiment fait très plaisir de la connaître parce que maintenant, avec Internet, vous travaillez avec des gens que vous ne contactez souvent que via emails et je trouve ça plutôt triste. Voilà ce qui m’a fait le plus plaisir cette année – découvrir des gens nouveaux, des éditeurs passionnés, des équipes formidables, acharnées à défendre les livres et les auteurs qu’elles publient, et aussi pouvoir commencer un autre livre – mon dixième – pour vous offrir des histoires qui j’espère vous ferons vous évader et rêver. Nous avons tous besoin d’évasion, vous ne pensez-pas ? Voici quelques photos de cette semaine, avec Central Park peint dans de merveilleux tons d’ocres et de roux. Mon vœux pour 2017 : que cette nouvelle année soit remplie de magie et de beaucoup d’aventures. J’espère que vous trouverez tous de la joie cette année, sous quelque forme que ce soit.
USA – Five days in New-York & my New Year’s wish
As promised, here is a summary of my New York trip. It was a magical five days, extremely cold (I think it’s snowing there now)! But magnificently sunny. I stayed in my favorite hotel, The Greenwich, in Tribeca – very elegant and cozy. For once I had time to stroll around the area and discover the most incredible places, such as the old Western Union Building (60 Hudson St) designed by Ralph Walker, quite simply stunning, both outside and in. The Arcade bakery in the lobby of the Merchant Square building. I lunched at Fanelli’s, MY favorite NYC restaurant (I strongly recommend the chili con carne…) and I was even able to visit the fantastic Public Library. In my opinion, this is one of the most wonderful libraries in the world. Liz Hermann, the Octopus (my publishers) Press Officer, told me that my book is selling well. Excellent news. We met for coffee and I was so pleased to be able to meet her in person, because nowadays, with the Internet, we so often work with people that we only contact by email and I find that rather sad. What gave me the greatest pleasure this year was to discover new people, passionate publishers, fantastic teams, working so tremendously hard to defend the books and the authors they publish. Also to be able to start another book – my tenth – sharing more stories with you that I hope will take you on a journey and help you dream. We all need to be able to get away at times, don’t you think?
