C’était dans l’avion du retour. Elle était à côté de moi …
« Vous venez d’où ? elle m’a demandé.
De Patagonie, j’ai répondu.
Patagonie ! Oh, c’est super. Et c’était comment ? Je n’y suis jamais allée ! »
J’ai cherché par où commencer. J’ai essayé de trouver les mots pour lui donner une idée de la lumière incroyablement dense quand vous vous levez et quand vous vous allez vous coucher, du ciel si bas que vous avez l’impression qu’il va vous tomber sur la tête, des gens si heureux de vous parler, j’ai cherché à lui expliquer la mélancolie, la folie, le mystère. Mais les mots n’étaient jamais assez proche de la réalité.
En fait, j’aurais voulu l’emmener là-bas, lui montrer tous les moments… alors les voici, en une minute et trente secondes (Vidéo de The Nature Conservancy) :

Patagonia – The woman on the plane
It was on the plane coming back. She was next to me…
« Where are you coming from? she asked.
Patagonia, I replied.
Patagonia ! That’s great. Tell me about it, I’ve never been there! »
I surfed to find a starting point. I did my best to find the words that would give an idea of that incredible, dense, light in the early morning , and again in the evening, of the sky, so low that it could possibly fall on your head, the people, so delighted to talk to you,a way to explain to her the irrational, the melancholy, the mystery. But nothing could really describe the reality.
Of course, I wished I could take her there, show her all the moments… so here they are, in 1minute and 30 seconds (video from The Nature Conservancy).
