Mon livre ! Fnac, Amazon.

My last book World Tour (Louis Vuitton/Xavier Barral) was published in September in France (it will come out in the USA next Spring) and since then, a lot of things happened. It was notably published in Japan (in japanese). Here are a few recent articles. Also, two weeks ago, a travel talk was organized around the book at the Louis Vuitton St Germain des Près boutique in Paris. It was a welcoming and friendly event. Original too, since it was a discussion with the French journalist Elisabeth Quin who is also a writer and film critic, amongst other things. She asked me questions about the book, the labels, the travels and also literature, spirituality, life (because everything is linked right?)… There were a lot of people (thank you to all of those who took the time to come. As each time, it deeply touched me – All the writers and people who organize events for causes they care about know what it means). The Louis Vuitton shop was amazingly decorated around the theme of travel. There were funny moments, melancholic ones, sometimes even both at once. A lot of books sold and signed… And as I read my emails the next morning, I had messages saying how moving and pleasant this night was… Overall, it was a very nice moment, just how I like these to be, over which a benevolent and happy spirit was watching. Other travel talks are planned in different countries. To be continued…

I will profit to thank Elisabeth for being such a great accomplice in this adventure, and a lot of faithful friends who will recognize themselves (I wouldn’t want to forget anyone…) and of course, the fantastic Louis Vuitton team.

My friend Nirit Sumeruk also wrote about the talk in her very elegant blog Paris Popcorn. And a magnificent article/interview was written by the journalist Florencia Sanudo in the Chilean magazine Mujer.

Can’t wait? The book is already available for pre-order on Barnes&Noble

These last few days, I also wrote stories about my trip to Chile, in last August. A moving return to my roots which enabled me to see, once again, how dynamic this country is. It’s always fascinating to witness the evolution of a country and follow it during its different transformation stages. I rediscovered the Atacama desert, the most arid in the world… The first time I went there, it was 1989 and there was absolutely nothing there organized for tourists. It is now a famous destination, but this did not alleviate its magic and oddity. It was also very impressive to see the work that has been done to combine tourism and preservation (an approach which is noticeable in numerous other parts of the country). You can find hotels, restaurants, charming bars as well as modern and qualitative installations, for every budget. A considerable exploit if you think of the extraordinary context it was created in. I wrote about the Awasi hotel where I stayed because it is the perfect example of this succeess (and on top of that, they make fantastic pisco sour there!). Finally, I wrote about a surnatural picnic, in a temperature of minus 2 degrees and 4000 meters high, in the middle of the Altiplano, between turquoise lagoons, fuming volcanosand the steppe of the desert…
